Apple pressing day

Come to our Apple Pressing Day
at Levens School on Saturday 15 October
from 10am to 3pm


Bring your apples and pears and turn them into wonderful juice!

Bring plenty of containers as you can expect about ¾ litre of juice per kg of fruit. All fruit must be either picked from the tree or be washed and cleaned windfalls. Pasteurisers available.

Featuring

• 13 gardens - old favourites, 3 new, 5 NGS

• Lunches / cold drinks /afternoon teas

• Plant sales

• Gardenalia and bric-a-brac stalls

• Special attractions in some gardens

Other attractions

  • Garden sustainability and wildlife information

  • There will be representatives from, or displays of information by,

    • the Butterfly Conservation Trust

    • the Bee Conservation Trust

    • the British Trust for Ornithology

    • the Cumbria Wildlife Trust

  • Information on composting and the equipment available from Cumbria County Council.

  • In one garden there will be a raffle for the Motor Neurone Disease Association - the prize being a print by local wildlife artist Fiona Clucas. In another, rainbow vegetable are being grown.

  • There will be the opportunity to make a painted butterfly brooch.

  • There will be some seed-tray gardens made by the children at Levens School.

  • And last but not least there will be a children's trail - where every participating child will receive a packet of easy-grow seeds.
