Local environmental survey
About the environmental survey
A Levens Environment Group was set up at the time of the publication of the Levens Parish Plan in 2008. Its purpose was to record in detail the parish environment and landscape and to encourage their conservation, and where appropriate and feasible, their enhancement.
The remit of the group was to document the natural features of the parish through photography, mapping and written accounts of interesting landscape features. Of particular interest were:
The flora and fauna of the verges, open spaces and parish land.
Geological and open landscape features.
Significant features of the built environment.
Archaeological and historical features.
Interesting agricultural features.
